Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. Pro 18:22
Dear Singles, welcome to Heart2Heart devotional. MARRIAGE is like a shoe. When you wear oversize, be ready to drag it along shamefully throughout life, and when you wear under-size be ready to feel the pains throughout life.
One thing about marriage is that you don’t drop your shoe or remove it at any point, no matter how painful or how stressful it is. That is why I thought it necessary to teach you in today’s devotional how to know who is right for you in marriage. When you are ready to buy your own shoe, note these three things:
LOOK FOR YOUR SIZE: Do not look for the beautiful ones, the nice ones or the cheap ones. Look first for the one that is your size. Not every handsome, wealthy or intelligent guy or lady is for you. Look for the one that that aligns with your values and belief. If this person does not value what you value, you have picked the wrong shoe. If your beliefs are opposite, you picked the wrong size.
LOOK FOR THE POSITION: Your size cannot be everywhere sir! Your type cannot be everywhere my sister. All sizes of shoes are not placed in the same place. Children sizes, young people’s sizes and the adult sizes. Know where to get your own shoe. You cannot be a Christian, and be looking for a wife at the club. Stick to your values and you shall find someone like you, but when your values are not well defined, anyone can just match you. Discover yourself and define your values.
CHECK THE PERCEPTION: In this kind of shoe purchasing enterprise, you are not permitted to try the shoe before you buy. This is why it is important to seek guidance and counseling from people who bought the right shoes sizes or people who are into the business of helping others get their right shoes sizes (Pastors and Relationship coaches).
To avoid wasting your time, simply consult the SHOE MANUFACTURER to show you your right size. God is the author of marriages. Don’t only consult Him but read the Marriage Manual the Manufacturer provided. The marriage manual is THE BIBLE!
Finally, marriage is not something you rush into the market to pick up like a shoe just because you like or can purchase it. Ask questions -Where is this shoe made from? (Background) -What’s the size (Values) -How much (His/Her interest) -How long will it last (His/Her Character) -Who made it? (Is she/He of the same faith with you? This is compatibility) -Will it match me? (This is whether he/she love you and will accept you the way you are)
LET ME REMIND YOU OF THIS: Many people are dragging their feet along life and they may not reach their destination. Many others are feeling endless pains and wish they could pull off the shoes but it’s not possible. I have seen people with beautiful shoes and when they show you their foot, all you see is ugly scars. May God help you chose right. You will end well. Help will find you. God bless you
CONFESSION OF THE DAY: 2020 is my year of Milk and Honey and I will surely fulfill the destiny God has given to me in Jesus name
DISCUSSION OF THE DAY: Plan to be part of the 3 days fasting and prayers starting from the 1st to 3rd of February. Don’t just pray, fast. Don’t just fast, raise an altar. Like Cornelius, raise altars that will come before God as a memorial in Act 10. Click HERE to know what altars are and how to raise them.
PRAYER OF THE DAY: Thank God for the word you have received today. Now ask God to help you stay committed to your spouse and love them the same way Christ loves the church.
