Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 1Thess 5:21
THE TIME TEST: If you find yourself “falling in love” often and early, only to be later disappointed, then remembering this test of real love will save you future heartache.
Don’t be in a hurry to call any feelings true love until you have subjected this feelings to the time test. If this feeling is real, it will get stronger and stronger with time.
But if the feelings quickly dissipate after a little quarrel or misunderstanding, there was no love in the first place. True Love benefits and grows through time; but infatuation / lust ebbs and diminishes with time. Prove all things the bible says and that include your feelings.
PEN THIS DOWN: Time proves things. Never rush a relationship. Take it slow and watch things unfold.
How does he behave when he is in a bad mood? What does he do when he gets angry? Does he spend all his money each month, or does he save some for the future? In difficult situations, does she trust the Lord? Is he really as strong a Christian as he claims to be? Is he trying to hide the fact that he drinks?
Does she forgive those who hurt her, or does she stop speaking to them? When he has said or done something wrong, is he willing to admit it? If you are in doubt about your feeling of love, wait to get married. Time will tell. The key word is patience.
It takes a lot of time to get answers to questions like these! The time test is the third test to prove if what you are in with your mate is real love or not. Do not forget to share with someone what you have learnt today. God bless you.
