The Seduction Of Kisses & Cuddles Part 2

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 1Co 6:18

Welcome to Heart2Heart devotion for singles. The Bible doesn’t specifically say do not kiss or cuddle but it does clearly say you should avoid sex prior to marriage (1Corinth 6:18) or lust after another person (Matthew 5:28).

Hear me: Have you noticed that the “kisses and touchy” activities often lead to the stirring of sexual feelings and lustful desires which become satanic traps for you and me? If you keep engaging yourself in these cuddling and kissing, you will get to a point where sex itself will become your bondage. Say God forbid!

Some have asked, “Just how far can a Christian go with kissing and cuddling without sinning?” The time to make this decisions about physical contact is before you get into a touchy situation. Making that decision on the spur of the moment with no forethought is a recipe for going too far.

To help you establish godly standards, consider the following advice given by a panel of young Christians between the ages of 20 and 30. Some are married and some aren’t. While the names are changed to preserve each person’s identity, the comments are genuine.

20-year-old Cynthia said, “I know it’s difficult to refrain yourself and live right especially in this internet age but the grace of God is still available. No one has any excuse for not living right. God knew this age will come and that is why He also gave us the Holy Ghost to help us. If I fail to please God, it’s because I have neglected the ministry of the Holy Ghost in my own life.

Ben, 28 and married to Joy said, “Those first thrilling physical touches when one is young can often open the door to premature intimacy and big life mistakes. If I could do it all over again, I would refrain from hand-holding until becoming engaged, and then make sure the engagement was brief enough so as to minimize any potential problems”.

FINALLY: Individual tolerances to holding hands or touching may vary, but I would prefer erring on the side of strict conservatism in this area. Let the wisdom of Cynthia and Ben guide you as you leave here today and flee fornication with all your might. Shalom!
